The Driver Suit Blog-Throwback Thursday-Phil Barkdoll-1998

By David G. Firestone

Phil Barkdoll’s 1998 X1R/Square D Chevy Monte Carlo is our subject this week.

Yellow, black, and red is a good color scheme, but the design is…weird. The curves look out of place, and the blue Square D lettering looks odd on the yellow background. The front stripe is out of place with the rest of the car. The black border around the windows doesn’t do the car any favors here. The scheme can best be summed up with the phrase “good color scheme, odd design.”

I'm just a normal guy who collects race-worn driver suits, helmets, sheet metal, and other race-worn items. I will use this blog to help collectors, and race fans alike understand the various aspects of driver suits and helmets, and commentate on paint schemes.
