The Driver Suit Blog-Paint Scheme Grades-October 21, 2023

By David G. Firestone

Kevin Harvick #4 Mobil 1 Extended Performance High Mileage Ford Mustang-Too many different colors, the tan looks out of place, and the hexagon motif just doesn’t work. D

Ryan Blaney #12 Menard’s/Tarkett Ford Mustang-Same scheme as last year, same A grade.

Chase Briscoe #14 Code 3 Associates Ford Mustang-I loves me a good fade, and this is a good fade, with a great color scheme. A

Chris Buescher #17 Travel Centers of America Ford Mustang-The RFK template really takes away from the scheme, since it clutters it up. B+

Bubba Wallace #23 DoorDash x Roku Toyota Camry-A smooth look with a great color scheme will ALWAYS earn an A.

William Byron #24 Relay Payments Chevy Camaro-Much cleaner and better look here! A

Tyler Reddick #45 Jordan Brand Toyota Camry-I think this might be an experiment to see how many different colors and designs can fit on a single race car. It’s just awful, and this may be the worst scheme of 2023. F

J.J. Yeley #51ConectUS Wireless/Kyocera Ford Mustang-Same scheme as last year, same A grade.

BJ McLeod #78 BretBaier.com Chevy Camaro-It’s not bad, it’s not good, it’s mediocre. C

I'm just a normal guy who collects race-worn driver suits, helmets, sheet metal, and other race-worn items. I will use this blog to help collectors, and race fans alike understand the various aspects of driver suits and helmets, and commentate on paint schemes.
