The Driver Suit-How I Spent My Summer Vacation 2026 Edition

By David G. Firestone

So, my annual summer break from creating content is officially over. Unlike previous years, I actually got a lot of stuff done, and had a fun three weeks.

The first day of my break started with our neighborhood rib cook off which raises money for Breakthrough T1D: Type 1 Diabetes, formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. I ate a few pounds of smoked pork, and drank some beer with my neighbors.

My next project was going to The Money Museum at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. It’s a very basic introduction to how money works, but it’s free, and it is interesting. I decided to make a vlog out of it.

This also lead me to get and unbox some error coins.

My friend Josh came to visit from California, and, amongst other things, we went to a Chicago Cubs game at Wrigley Field. That was a lot of fun.

The big event, at least for me is when our group of friends went to The Brat Stop in Wisconsin, a favorite of our family for decades. I played their claw machine, and won three prizes for $5. Then we went to Round1, which is a Japanese arcade company, where I won a figure of Mai Sakurajima from Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai. Yes I had to look this up. I also played a coin pusher.

Now that my vacation is over, normal operations will resume.

I'm just a normal guy who collects race-worn driver suits, helmets, sheet metal, and other race-worn items. I will use this blog to help collectors, and race fans alike understand the various aspects of driver suits and helmets, and commentate on paint schemes.
