The Driver Suit Blog-Paint Scheme Grades-November 2, 2019

Kurt Busch #1 Global Poker Chevy Camaro-Camo doesn’t look good on a race car. This color scheme doesn’t work with the camo. The car doesn’t look good, so I give it an F

The Driver Suit Blog-2019 Throwbacks Ranked!

By David G. Firestone

The throwback race is behind us. You know what that means. I’m going to rank all of the 2019 throwback schemes. As in previous years, the top ranked scheme will be the winner of the Paint Scheme for Best Throwback Scheme. Let’s get going!

1. Austin Dillon #3 DOW Salutes Veterans Chevy Camaro-Black and gold works well, especially on a throwback. This is a great scheme, with a great color scheme, and I can’t give this less than an A.

2. Brad Keselowski #2 Miller Throwback Ford Mustang-The Miller scheme had a unique look, and while I preferred the standard Miller Genuine Draft scheme, this is still a great scheme. A

3. William Byron #24 City Chevrolet/Hendrick Autoguard Chevy CamaroCole’s City Chevrolet Lumina is my favorite car in Days Of Thunder. This is a great replica, and it looks really good. This is getting an A.

4. BJ McLeod #51 Jacob Companies Throwback Chevy Camaro-An underrated NASCAR movie with a lot of great cars, this is a faithful replica of the #7 Chicken Pit/Zenon Ford Thunderbird. This is an amazing look, and I give it an A.

5. Chase Elliott #9 NAPA Throwback Chevy Camaro-You could put all of Bill Elliott’s pre-1999 schemes in a hat, pick one out at random, and be guaranteed to pick a great scheme. 1981 was a great scheme, and this faithful throwback is an amazing representation. I love this scheme! A

6. Landon Cassill #00 StarCom Fiber Throwback Chevy Camaro-I always love metallic siver, and the Coors Light look is a great look. I also like the design as a whole. This is getting an A.

7. Alex Bowman #88 Axalta Throwback Chevy Camaro-The Tim Richmond Folgers scheme was a great scheme, and it’s nice that Axalta is doing a faithful throwback. This is a great look. A

8. Austin Dillon #3 American Ethanol Throwback Chevy Camaro-Dale’s Olympic scheme was a great scheme. This somewhat faithful replica looks really good, and I can’t really say anything bad. A

9. William Byron #24 City Chevrolet/Hendrick Autoguard Chevy CamaroCole’s City Chevrolet Lumina is my favorite car in Days Of Thunder. This is a great replica, and it looks really good. This is getting an A.

10. JJ Yeley #52 Jacob Companies Throwback Chevy Camaro-This is a good look, and I can’t say anything bad about it. A

11. David Ragan #38 Thanks DW Ford Mustang-Darrell’s chrome scheme was a bold look that would look just as awesome today. While I think that metallic silver isn’t chrome, I do love this look, and I think this scheme is great. A

12. Denny Hamlin #11 FedEx Throwback Toyota Camry-Darrell’s 1990’s Parts America scheme was a great scheme. It looked amazing, and still holds up today! This is a great throwback scheme, and I can’t give this less than an A!

13. Ricky Stenhouse #17 Fastenal Throwback Ford Mustang-Darrell’s 1990’s Parts America scheme was a great scheme. It looked amazing, and still holds up today! This is a great throwback scheme, and I can’t give this less than an A!

14. Matt DiBenedetto #95 Procore Thanks DW Throwback Toyota CamryFaithful 1970’s schemes always look awesome, and this is no exception. This is an amazing look, and I love everything about this scheme! A

15. Erik Jones #20 SportClips Throwback Toyota Camry-This is a smooth, simple look, and it’s a great look. The black works, the red works, and the scheme works. A

16. Garrett Smithley #54 AQRE Throwback Chevy Camaro-Not the scheme I was expecting, but this is a good look, and it’s a faithful replica. I give this an A.

17. Daniel Hemric #8 Caterpillar Throwback Chevy Camaro-This is a great scheme, not just because it looks awesome, but because I like how throwbacks are evolving in NASCAR. It used to be that throwbacks were either old schemes, or based on old schemes. Nowadays, everything from cans to trucks are being used. This example is based on an old Caterpillar tractor from the 1920’s. This looks amazing! A

18. David Ragan #38 Shriners Hospitals for Children Throwback Ford MustangDavid Pearson’s 1969 Torino Cobra is a great look, and this is a great throwback. I can’t give this less than an A.

19. Ryan Preece #47 Kroger Throwback Chevy CamaroI love this throwback! The shade of red works, the design looks great, and the car just looks awesome. I love good throwbacks, and this is a good throwback. A

20. Michael McDowell #34 Dockside Logistics Ford Mustang-This was a very unique scheme back in the day, and I like this faithful representation. This is a good look, and I like the silver door numbers. A

21. Ryan Blaney #12 Pennzoil Throwback Ford Mustang-Mike’s old Pennzoil scheme was simple, it was attractive, and it worked. This faithful replica works well, and earns an A.

22. Jimmie Johnson #48 Ally Throwback Throwback Chevy Camaro-This is so much better than his current Ally scheme, and it’s a faithful replica. This is a great scheme. A

23. Paul Menard #21 Motorcraft Throwback Ford MustangGlen’s 1956 Ford Fairlane had a great look, and this faithful replica is a great look. This is an amazing look, and I can’t give this less than an A.

24. Kyle Busch #18 Snickers Throwback Toyota Camry-The white design is a unique look, and it’s a good throwback. I like this, and I’m giving it an A.

25. Corey LaJoie #32 Keen Parts/Corvette Parts Throwback Ford Mustang-Jarrett’s Nestle scheme is an interesting throwback choice, but it’s well done, very faithful, and earns an A as a result.

26. Matt Tifft #36 Hilker Glass Throwback Ford Mustang-This is a bold look that isn’t over done. It’s also a faithful throwback. This is a great look, and I give it an A.

27. Martin Truex Jr. #19 Bass Pro Shops Throwback Toyota Camry-I’m not always a fan of Bass Pro Shops throwbacks, some are better than others. That being said, this scheme is a good look, with a great color scheme. This scheme gets an A.

28. Darrell Wallace Jr. #43 Victory Junction Throwback Chevy CamaroSpree was never one of my favorite sponsors. That said, after some time, I do see what they were doing with their scheme. This is a faithful representation of the old Spree scheme, and It works very well. A

29. Daniel Suarez #41 Haas Throwback Ford Mustang-The third Tony Stewart Championship throwback scheme is based on his 2005 Home Depot scheme, which is the best of the three. It’s faithful, and it has a great look, and that will always earn an A.

30. Aric Almirola #10 Smithfield Throwback Ford Mustang-For Tony Stewart’s Hall of Fame election, Stewart-Haas Racing’s cars are being painted in the colors of Tony’s Cup Championship schemes. The first from 2002, is based on Tony’s Home Depot. It’s a faithful replica, so that’s good, and I do like the Home Depot’s shade of orange. All things considered, this gets an A.

31 Clint Bowyer #14 Rush Truck Centers/Mobil 1 Ford Mustang-This second Tony Stewart Throwback is based on his 2011 Office Depot/Mobil 1 Chevy. Like the #10, it’s a faithful replica, with correct colors. I liked the design back then, and I like this now, so this gets an A.

32. Paul Menard #21 Quaker State/Menards Steve Kinser Throwback Ford MustangIt’s a good throwback, with a great design, and that will always earn an A.

33. Matt DiBenedetto #95 Toyota Throwback Toyota Camry-It’s a smooth look, it has a great color scheme, and that will always earn an A.

34. Reed Sorenson #77 Motor Racing Network Throwback Chevy Camaro-A fauxback, but a good one. Blue and gold works well, and the design is simple. I give this an A.

35. Kurt Busch #1 Star Nursery Throwback Chevy Camaro-My only complaint is the forced black spot for the Monster Energy logo. Other than that, this is a really great throwback. A-

36. Kurt Busch #1 Chevrolet Accessories Throwback Chevy Camaro-The black Monster Energy area looks out of place. This is visually distracting and takes away. The scheme looks good, but the black takes it from an A to an A-.

37. Ryan Newman #6 Oscar Meyer/Velveeta Throwback Ford Mustang-Full disclosure, I loved the old Mark Martin Valvoline design. This new version with Oscar Meyer and Velveeta colors is not as great. The red, white, and blue design works well. Red, green and white doesn’t work as well. It’s still decent, so I’ll give it a B+.

38. Kyle Larson #42 Clover Throwback Chevy Camaro-I never liked the green Kodiak scheme, I always preferred the white scheme. This is a faithful replication, but it doesn’t pop as much as some of the others. I’ll give this a B.

39. Joey Logano #22 Shell/Pennzoil Throwback Ford Mustang-I was not a fan of the Harvick Shell/Pennzoil scheme, and I’m not a fan of this throwback. There are other Shell schemes that could work, but this is just a meh scheme. I’ll give it a C.

Next week, I revisit an older article.

The Driver Suit Blog-Paint Scheme Grades-August 24, 2019

By David G. Firestone

Austin Dillon #3 Chevy Accessories Chevy Camaro-Same scheme as #8, same A grade.

Austin Dillon #3 Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Off Road Chevy Camaro-Wave forms are over done this year, but this isn’t the worst I’ve seen. Black and orange is decent. All things considered, I give this a C-

Ryan Blaney #12 Menards/Moen Ford Mustang-Same scheme as #21, same B+ grade.

Clint Bowyer #14 Peak Lighting Ford Mustang-I do like the black and gold, but this isn’t a good look. The Peak designs aren’t necessary, and give the car a cluttered look. It’s not terrible, so I’ll give it a B-

Ross Chastain #15 Chantz Auto Group/Icey Tek Chevy Camaro-A smooth look, with a great color scheme will always earn an A.

Corey LaJoie #32 Incredible Bank Ford Mustang-I think the orange could be darker, and the side designs are a bit over done. Still, it’s a good look, so I’ll give it a B+.

David Ragan #38 MDS Ford Mustang-Orange doesn’t improve this design. Orange doesn’t detract from this design. It’s still a B+.

Ryan Preece #47 Kroger Throwback Chevy Camaro-I love this throwback! The shade of red works, the design looks great, and the car just looks awesome. I love good throwbacks, and this is a good throwback. A

BJ McLeod #51 Pinnacle Sports and Entertainment Chevy Camaro-The only good thing I can say here is that I like the color scheme. The design is an ugly, pointlessly over designed mess. I don’t know what look they were going for, but they missed. I’ll give this a D.

Kyle Weatherman #52 Belmont Classic Cars Chevy Camaro-Why tan? Why not blue, or red, or black, or any other color? You don’t see many tan race cars, and that’s because tan doesn’t work. If this were literally any other color it would get a higher grade, but this gets a B-.

J.J. Yeley #54 Slayer Chevy Camaro-I’m going to count this as an independent scheme, largely because of a bunch of stupid reasons. This is a great look. The color scheme works, and the design works flawlessly. It’s a shame that some people can’t handle Slayer.A

J.J. Yeley #54 PODS Chevy Camaro-So after all the nonsense, you have a race car that will race at Bristol. Why not just have PODS on a black background? Why keep the Slayer motif? This is god awful! Why PODS would agree to this, I have no idea. The only good thing I can say is that the color scheme is good. D

The Driver Suit Blog-Paint Scheme Grades-May 11, 2019

By David G. Firestone

Landon Cassill #00 Kodra Chevy Camaro-It’s a smooth look, with a great color scheme, and that will always earn an A.

Chase Elliott #9 NAPA Brakes Chevy Camaro-The black is completely unnecessary here.  If the whole scheme was gold, it would work much better.  Still, it’s not terrible, so I’ll give it a B+.

Ryan Blaney #12 Menard’s/Duracel Ford Mustang-The new Menard’s template works well with black, and this is a good example.  The colors work well with the design, and the car looks great as a result. A

Kyle Busch #18 Pedigree Toyota Camry-Same scheme as last year, same A grade.

Chris Buescher #37 Degree Chevy Camaro-Same scheme as last year, same B- grade.

BJ McLeod #52 Chevy Camaro-It’s a smooth look, with a great color scheme, and that will always earn an A.

Alex Bowman #88 Nationwide Pitch To Win Big Chevy Camaro-Same scheme as Nationwide Pet Insurance, same A grade.

Matt DiBenedetto #95 FDNY Foundation Chevy Camaro-Same scheme as last year, same A grade.

The Driver Suit Blog-Paint Scheme Grades-March, 9, 2019

By David G. Firestone

Landon Cassill #00 Manscaped Chevy Camaro-It’s a smooth, simple look, with a great color scheme, and that will always earn an A.

Kurt Busch #1 Gear Wrench Chevy Camaro-I like the new design scheme here, and the color scheme works well too. It’s a great scheme, and that earns an A.

Kurt Busch #1 Star Nursery Throwback Chevy Camaro-My only complaint is the forced black spot for the Monster Energy logo. Other than that, this is a really great throwback. A-

Austin Dillon #3 Dow Silastic Silicone Elastomers Chevy Camaro-Same scheme as last year, same A grade.

Daniel Hemric #8 Red Kap Chevy Camaro-Great color scheme here, but the curved stripes are over done. Getting rid of one would work much better. Still, it’s a decent scheme, so I’ll give it a B+.

Daniel Hemric #8 Cessna Chevy Camaro-Great color scheme here, but the cutting edge designs are over done. Getting rid of one would work much better. Still, it’s a decent scheme, so I’ll give it a B+.

Ryan Blaney #12 Menard’s/Pennzoil Ford Mustang-Same scheme as last year, same B- grade.

Clint Bowyer #14 CSU One Cure Ford Mustang-Same scheme as last year, same A grade.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. #17 Sunny D Ford Mustang-Another example of a new scheme not improving at all. I can’t say this gets worse, but it doesn’t get better. As such, this scheme gets the F the Sunny D scheme got last year.

Corey LaJoie #32 Prospr Parts Ford Mustang-I love a good fade, and this is a great fade, black to red. The stripes work well too. I can’t say anything bad about this scheme, so it gets an A.

Chris Buescher #37 Natural Light Naturdays Chevy Camaro-The color scheme is horrid, and while it does have a fade, the color scheme makes it look awful. I can’t give this scheme anything else but an F.

Darrell Wallace Jr. #43 Transportation Impact Chevy Camaro-Same scheme as last year, same A grade.

BJ McLeod #52 MTEL-ONE Chevy Camaro-The orange doesn’t really add or subtract from the Jacob Companies scheme, so I’ll give it the same B grade that Jacob Companies got.

Joey Gase #66 www.NVDonor.org Toyota Camry-While the side design has a mediocre color scheme, it also has a mediocre color scheme. All things considered, I’ll give it a B-.

Reed Sorenson #77 Chevy Camaro-It’s a smooth, simple look, with a great color scheme, and that will always earn an A.

Tanner Berryhill #97 II:WAVE Toyota Camry-It’s a smooth, simple look, with a great color scheme, and that will always earn an A.

The Driver Suit Blog-Paint Scheme Grades-March 2, 2019

By David G. Firestone

Landon Cassill #00 StarCom Fiber Chevy Camaro-This new version of the scheme is still bad, but it’s not as bad as it was. That said, it’s awful, so I’ll give it in D+.

Kurt Busch #1 ComSurv Chevy Camaro-Good look, great color scheme, no complaints here. A

Clint Bowyer #14 Haas CNC Ford Mustang-This is a great new look. It’s smooth, and has a great color scheme. This gets an A.

Ross Chastain #15 Rim Ryderz Chevy Camaro-Same scheme as #27, same A- grade.

Kyle Busch #18 Snickers Creamy Toyota Camry-The Snickers brown is a great color, and the creamy motif works very well here. All things considered, this scheme is worth an A.

Paul Menard #21 Menard’s/Moen Ford Mustang-The new Menard’s template is a downgrade. It’s too over done. That said, the Moen look is a decent look. The purple works well here. I’d say this is worth a B+.

Michael McDowell #34 Fr8 Auctions Ford Mustang-This is a major upgrade from the 2018 Fr8 Auctions scheme. There is room for improvement here, I would tone down the designs a bit. It’s still a decent scheme, so I’ll give it a B+.

Chris Buescher #37 Scott Comfort Plus Chevy Camaro-Same scheme as last year, same C- grade.

David Ragan #38 Fireade Ford Mustang-This is a really over designed scheme, but it has a good color scheme. Just because you can design a certain scheme, does not mean you should. C-

Daniel Suarrez #41 Aaris Ford Mustang-The shade of orange works well, the black pairs well with it, the stripe looks good. Nothing wrong with this one! A

Kyle Larson #42 McDonald’s Team Classic Chevy Camaro-The over sized golden arches work very well, and the plain red works very well too. This scheme works very well, and gets an A.

Darrell Wallace Jr. #43 McDonald’s Team Bacon Chevy Camaro-If it was a plain white version of the above scheme, I would give it an A. However, the addition of the red square under the door numbers, and hood look odd, and the roof is just perplexing. It’s not terrible, but it looks odd. I’ll give it a B+.

BJ McLeod #52 Trick Shot Chevy Camaro-It’s an over designed mess, it has a bad color scheme, and the color scheme doesn’t work with the design scheme. F

Garrett Smithley #77 HeroBox, Harrell’s and Precision Turf Chevy Camaro-A smooth look with a great color scheme will always earn an A.

Matt DiBenedetto #95 Procore Chevy Toyota Camry-The toned down design is a major upgrade, and I do like the motif on the sides. It’s still somewhat over designed, but it’s a good scheme, so I’ll give it a B+.

Parker Kligerman #96 Gaunt Brothers Racing Toyota Camry-Same scheme as last year, same A grade.

The Driver Suit Blog-Paint Scheme Grades-August 18, 2018

By David G. Firestone

Landon Cassill #00 Mane ‘n Tall Chevy Camaro-The color scheme isn’t great to begin with, and when you add in a design scheme that clashes with the color scheme, it’s not good.  It’s a car that clashes with itself. F

Landon Cassill #00 StarCom Fiber Throwback Chevy Camaro-The metallic gold Miller High Life scheme is a great scheme, and this very faithful representation is a great look! I can’t say anything bad about this scheme. A

Austin Dillon #3 Dow We Are Innovators Chevy Camaro-Overall, it’s a great scheme with a great color scheme, and a great look.  A

Matt Kenseth #6 Roush Performance Ford Fusion-Same scheme as last year, same A grade.

Garrett Smithley #7 Victory Lane Oil Change Chevy Camaro-Black replacing white really works here!  The scheme still looks great, and the black fits the scheme more than white does. A

Clint Bowyer #14 Rush Truck Stops/Cummins Ford Fusion-Same scheme as Rush’s Truck Stops, same A grade.

Clint Bowyer #14 Cummins/Rush Truck Stops Ford Fusion-The scheme is a smooth classic look with a great color scheme.  It looks really great.  Black and white is a great look for a car. All things considered, I give it an A.

Ross Chastain #15 Solomon Plumbing Chevy Camaro-A good smooth look with a great color scheme will always earn an A.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. #17 John Deere Ford Fusion-Yellow and green can be a very difficult scheme to work with on a race car.  This scheme worked well in 1997, and this throwback knocks it out of the park.  It looks great, and I give it an A.

Erik Jones #20 Doosan Machine Tools Toyota Camry-It’s a great design scheme, but the light blue does not work with the rest of the scheme. If the blue were somewhat darker, it might work.  Still, it’s not a bad scheme, so, all things considered, I give it a B-.

Erik Jones #20 SportClips Throwback Toyota Camry-The RE/MAX look from 1997 is a great scheme.  It has a great color scheme and design scheme.  I also love the 1990’s Upper Deck based logo on the hood. All things considered, this gets an A

Paul Menard #21 Earn While You Learn/NewFordTech.com Ford Fusion-Same scheme as Motorcraft, same A grade.

Matt DiBenedetto #32 Harvest Investments Ford Fusion-It’s a great design scheme with a solid color scheme, and that will always earn an A.

Chris Buescher #37 Slim Jim Chevy Camaro-The sublimated designs, and Slim Jims on sides is a little over done.  It could have been a solid A scheme, but these minor touches take it down to an A-.

David Ragan #38 Louis Kemp Crab Delights Ford Fusion-The orange crab scheme works well, and the blue works well with the rest of the scheme.  It just works well. A

BJ McLeod #51 Jacob Companies Chevy Camaro-Stripes on a race car are like Tabasco sauce in a Bloody Mary…too much is a bad thing.  In this case, less really would have been more.  It’s still not terrible, so I’ll give it an A-.

Timmy Hill #66 Rewards.com Chevy Camaro-The shades of green and blue aren’t great, and the Rewards logos don’t help.  It’s a good design scheme, but B-

Kasey Kahne #95 Drumont Jets Throwback Chevy Camaro-The Dodge scheme was a great scheme, and this is a faithful replica of that scheme.  This scheme looks great. A

By David G. Firestone

Joey Gase #00 Sparkz Energy Chevy Camaro-My only complaint here is that I don’t like the black on the front of the car. A-

Landon Cassill #00 Lock Haven University Chevy Camaro-The side designs could be toned down, and I don’t like the shade of red used.  It’s still a decent scheme, and I give it a B+.

Jamie McMurray #1 Cessna/Arctic Cat Chevy Camaro-Same scheme as Arctic Cat, same A grade.

Austin Dillon #3 Dow/Intellifresh Chevy Camaro-Same scheme as Dow, same A grade.

Kevin Harvick #4 Jimmy Johns Kickin Ranch Ford Fusion-Same basic scheme as Jimmy John’s, same A grade.

Matt Kenseth #6 Constantine Sealing Service Ford Fusion-Wave designs can be tricky, especially an over designed mess like this.  I do like the color scheme, and the rest of the car isn’t bad.  All things considered, I give this scheme a  B-

Jeffrey Earnhardt #7 Nine Line Foundation/Xtreme Concepts Chevy Camaro-This is another example of a car that has multiple design schemes that don’t work with each other.  The front scheme and the rear scheme would work by themselves, but together, it’s just a mess. The only good thing I can say is that the color scheme works, so that earns this scheme a D+

Chase Elliott #9 NAPA Throwback Chevy Camaro-This is a great looking throwback, with a great design, and color scheme.  Nothing wrong here! A

Denny Hamlin #11 FedEx Cares Toyota Camry-Camouflage has NEVER worked on a race car, and it never will.  Add in the white base, and blue stripes, and you have a mess of a scheme. D+

Clint Bowyer #14 Haas 30 Years of the VF1 Ford Fusion-This is what happens when you take a great scheme and find a way to make it better.  The removal of part of the bottom stripe gives the car a cleaner look.  A

Clint Bowyer #14 Carolina Dodge Dealers Ford Fusion-Another great throwback, with a great look.  Ned Jarrett had some great schemes back in the day, and this is a faithful representation of one of these. A

Kyle Busch #18 Skittles Patriotic Toyota Camry-Same scheme as last year, same A grade.

Kyle Busch #18 Snickers Intense Toyota Camry-It’s an ugly mess with a bad color scheme that is so needlessly over designed that it makes me get car sick just sitting at my laptop.  I’ll give this the F it deserves.

Erik Jones #20 DeWalt Patriotic Toyota Camry-Remember what I said about camouflage never working on a race car?  I officially take that back.  This is a camo scheme that works well, because it isn’t overpowering the rest of the car. It works well, and it gets an A.

Erik Jones #20 Toyota Toyota Camry-Yes the designs are trimmed down.  Yes the colors are changed.  No it doesn’t help this scheme at all.  It’s still an F scheme.

Eric Jones #20 Freightliner Toyota Camry-A smooth look with a great color scheme will always earn an A.

Paul Menard #21 Motorcraft Throwback Ford Fusion-You could pretty much put all of the pre 1997 Wood Brothers schemes in a hat, and be guaranteed to pick a good one, and this Cale Yarborough example is one.  It’s an amazing look, and it gets an A.

Gray Gaulding #23 Steakhouse Elite Toyota Camry-It’s really a meh scheme.  I will say that gold on black is an underrated combination, so seeing it here is nice.  I’ll give this scheme a B-.

Gray Gaulding #23 XXX Moonshine/KBM Properties Toyota Camry-Let’s see, front and rear designs that contrast, check. Bad shade of gray, check.  Door and roof numbers that contrast with the rest of the car, check.  Bad color scheme in general, check.  Scheme is getting an F, check.

Chris Buescher #37 Kleenex Chevy Camaro-The subtle designs are not overpowering, the car has a great look, and a great color scheme. A

Chris Buescher #37 Gain Chevy Camaro-The scheme was great last year, and with the improvements, it’s a great scheme this year. A

Chris Buescher #37 Kroger Clicklist Chevy Camaro-Same basic scheme as Kroger, same A grade.

David Ragan #38 Connor Co Ford Fusion-Great color scheme, but the design scheme is terrible.  It’s over designed, ugly, and a horrible mess.  All things considered, I give this scheme a C-.

David Ragan #38 Performance Plus Ford Fusion-Same scheme as #6, same B- grade.

Kyle Larson #42 Credit One Patriotic Chevy Camaro-The side design would work very well if the firework motif was removed.  It’s an amazing scheme, and it has a decent look, but the firework motif takes it from an A to a B+.

Darrell Wallace Jr. #43 Jewel Osco Chevy Camaro-It’s a smooth, simple look, and it has a great color scheme.  That will always earn an A.

Darrell Wallace Jr. #43 STP Throwback Chevy Camaro-Richard Petty’s STP scheme with no red is a great look, and this scheme is faithful to the original.  It’s a great throwback, and it earns an A.

Jimmie Johnson #48 Lowe’s/Jimmie Johnson Foundation Chevy Camaro-The design is over designed, and needlessly complex.  The only good thing I can say about this scheme is that I like the color scheme. D+

BJ McLeod #51 Prefund Capital Patriotic Chevy Camaro-American flag motifs work well, and this is no exception.  It’s a great look. A

Ray Black Jr. #51 Jacob Companies Chevy Camaro-The yellowish numbers don’t work well here.  The scheme as a whole is good, but the numbers are visually distracting.  B+

Timmy Hill #66 My Lilly Strong Toyota Camaro-Same scheme as Crash Claims, same A- grade.

Timmy Hill #66 Lehigh Valley Phantoms Toyota Camry-Orange can be a difficult color to work with, but this shade of orange works well, and the black designs work well.  It’s a great scheme. A

Cole Whitt #72 Dragonchain Chevy Camaro-I hate the lines on this scheme.  They are unnessicary, and pointless.  The scheme would be an A scheme without them, but with them, this scheme is a B- scheme.

Cole Whitt #72 Monarch Crypto Wallet Chevy Camaro-Its a badly designed scheme with a really bad color scheme.  I can’t say anything good about it, so I’ll give it an F.

Alex Bowman #88 Valvoline Chevy Camaro-Great look, with a great color scheme, and the design scheme works well. A

Alex Bowman #88 Axalta/Philadephpia Eagles Chevy Camaro-The Eagles shade of green doesn’t translate well to a race car,  The design works well, but with the Eagles green, it goes from an A- to a B+.

Kasey Kahne #95 Dark Matter Chevy Camaro-It’s a great scheme.  I love the black hole motif on the sides of the car.  Add in a great color scheme, and you get an A.

Kasey Kahne #95 Throne Chevy Camaro-The paint splatter motif is not over done, and the rest of the car has a smooth look, that earns an A.

Landon Cassill #99 StarCom Fiber Patriotic Chevy Camaro-While I like the patriotic motif here, getting rid of the gray on the rear would have been much better.  Still it’s not bad, so I’ll give it a B-.

Landon Cassill #99 St Charles Glass and Glazing Chevy Camaro-Great color scheme, great design scheme, nothing wrong here. A
